Texas Theater

Welcome to the Texas

The crown jewel of downtown Palestine and home of the Palestine Community Theater, the historic Texas Theater located at 213 W Crawford in Palestine, Texas provides an excellent venue for quality productions by local theatrical talent.

Over the past 25 years the stage of the Texas Theatre spotlighted many of our talented neighbors with productions such as "Guy's and Dolls", "Harvey", "The Wizard of Oz", "Man of La Mancha"  and "Clue: The Musical".

Our grand old lady, the Texas Theatre has hosted openings, re-openings and even closings over the years.  She now anxiously awaits her Grand Re-Opening with the final phase of renovations which will include the front of the building, boasting a beautiful new neon lit marquee to compliment the meticulous restoration that has taken place on the inside of the theatre.  The Texas reopened it's door in the spring of 2005 with the lighting of the TEXAS.
So please assist us in celebrating our past, securing our present, and preparing for our future.  Make plans to attend our next show and see what everyone is talking about!
Tickets are $12 Opening night, all other shows are $10 in advance, $12 at the door for adults, $6 for students 4-18.  For more information call 903-723-8383 Mon - Fri 9:00AM - 5:00PM and Saturdaty till noon.  After hours you may leave a message at 903-723-9595 for reservations.

In the Spotlight

The Mousetrap

"The Mousetrap" opens on a gloomy cold winters night in Monkswell manor, which young newlyweds Mollie and Giles Ralston (Brandi Derr and Scott Holden) have recently inherited and decided to turn into a guest house. It is opening day, and they're expecting their first guests. As fate would have it, there's a blinding snowstorm that greets their guests,  which means that they  may or may not arrive. But they all do, including an extra.  As the show begins, we hear on the radio that there is a murderer at large, and last seen in the vicinity. Oh My!!!

The guests at the house include Jared Cook as the architecture student Christopher Wren, Scarlett Drane as Mrs. Boyle, an abrasive and demanding matron; Bruce Andrews as Major Metcalf, an ex-soldier; Jan Sikes as Miss Casewell, a sort of mysterious traveler from abroad; and Jim Vincill as Mr. Paravicini, the unexpected guest. Rounding out the cast is John Lamb as Sergeant Trotter of the local police department.  One of the guests does not make it past intermission.  You'll have to come see the show to believe the conclusion to this thrilling Whodunit.

Palestine Community Theatre presents The Mousetrap Friday-Saturday, Oct 23 & 24, Oct 3O & 31 at 7:30 PM.  Sunday matinees will be Oct 25 and Nov 1 at 2:00 PM. Tickets are on sale at Palestine Chamber of Commerce at 903-729-6066 and Education Unlimited at 903-723-8383.
